Dorsal splint is used in the treatment of stable and unstable fractures of the distal Radius. The cast is easy to apply and cost effective. For the dorsal splint, use a Woodcast 4in1.

Steps

  1. Apply first stockinette
  2. Apply AirPadding over the wrist
  3. Check the size of the padding
  4. Apply second stockinette
  5. Open the vents of a heated splint
  6. Apply the splint and stretch around the wrist
  7. Apply the reinforcement on the splint
  8. Cool down. Use the freeze spray to accelerate cooldown.
  9. Fold the stockinette over the edges
  10. Check length and edges of the splint
  11. Secure the splint by applying cohesive bandage
  12. Trim around the thumb.
